Russian Speaking ISPS group

Foundation of the Stavropol Society of Psychosis Psychotherapy and the Information Mental Health Agency “ProPsy”, and the annual conference “Society and Mental Health” are the result of this cooperation.    

Russian health care professionals took part in the ISPS congresses in Melbourne and Madrid with oral presentations, and also in the ISPS-Norway conferences.

In 2008 “ProPsy” agency published a first book in Russian language from ISPS series. This book “Models of madness” became very popular in the professional world. We organized the presentation of the book by John Read in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tula. In this year another ISPS series book in Russian language is produced.

There is a growing interest in the psychological and social approaches to psychosis in the cities of Russian speaking world. The whole interest in the subject, in its advancement and in professional collaboration development prompted to foundation ISPS Russian speaking network.          

In this January during annual psychotherapy and practical psychology festival “Christmas Meetings” in Sochi Russian speaking ISPS group was established through Brian Martindale mediation. Twelve health care professionals from Minsk (Belarus), Stavropol, St. Petersburg, Obninsk, Moscow, Orenburg (Russia) formed this group. These members represent different activities in mental health area. They are professionals from in-patient and out-patient psychiatry departments, staff of specialized psychological centers, psychotherapists with private practice, faculty members, and research scientists.  

ISPS Ru members have a wealth of experience in psychotherapy, and well known mental health service arrangers, conferences speakers with publications and high activities in public awareness campaign.    

Sergey Babin (St. Petersburg – Orenburg) is the head of Russian speaking ISPS group. He is a psychotherapist, MD, PhD, head of psychotherapy department of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, Vice-president of the Russian Psychotherapeutic Association.
